I was not expecting to have a small group meeting yesterday at church. I thought I had told the members that we won’t be seeing each other until after January 1. Whether or not I did, one thing for sure was that I didn’t notify the group that we will indeed be meeting on that day or the day prior, as i normally do. I just assumed that everyone is too busy during the holidays. Even the small group ministry said I didn’t have to reserve an area for the meeting because all of them were available.
So I was pleasantly surprised when, after I sent a picture of where was at in our Telegram group chat, members just showed up.
I did not come prepared with discussion notes. So I decided to just have each member look at the year 2024 in review and identify and share their victories with God, to remind and encourage us as we enter another year with its new set of challenges. I couldn’t think of any other topic that is more fitting for the final meeting of the year.
So fitting that in fact, this is going to be our tradition.
In keeping with what happened Joshua 4:1-7, when God instructed Joshua to arrange 12 stones as a memorial for future generations to remind them He was and is with His people, any Christian must have what I call a Trophy Room – a special room in his mind where he stores the trophies of his trials and triumphs with Jesus, to remind himself of God’s faithfulness in the past, to be strong and courageous (as commanded in Joshua 1:9) in Christ in facing current battles and those yet to come.
And yet the memorial stones Joshua and his men set up were not for their own benefit, but for the benefit of future generations who weren’t there.
So I suppose this is what this site is for:
For Christians to witness and share with the world glimpses of their trophy rooms – to embolden and empower others in Christ as they all venture forth in their faith journey, to declare that God is faithful then and forever will be.
A blessed and fruitful 2025 to everyone.
PS: Check out the song Another In the Fire. It’s great to listen to as you celebrate your past and future victories with Jesus
